SIMC Visit to Jakarta
18 – 20 August 2015
The Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC) visited Jakarta, Indonesia in August to conduct a seminar on “Fast-tracking International Disputes through SIMC” in partnership with the Indonesian Mediation Center (Pusat Mediasi Nasional – PMN) and Britcham Indonesia.
Attended by business executives across Jakarta, the seminar provided a flavour of what users can expect from mediation, the benefits of mediation as well as the unique offerings of the SIAC-SIMC Arb-Med-Arb service. During the session, SIMC Deputy Chairman Mr George Lim also answered questions such as: What is the Arb-Med-Arb? Is the SIAC-SIMC Arb-Med-Arb Arbitral Award enforceable under Indonesian law? How cost effective is Mediation?
The event also culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Indonesian Mediation Center (PMN) and SIMC, further cementing the partnership between the two institutions.
SIMC further took the opportunity to meet with international law firms in Jakarta during the visit, and was pleased to speak at the Indonesian-Netherlands Association management briefing on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) – Mediation.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the PMN and Britcham for their partnership in the organisation of the seminar.
